This was the closing organ piece for my church’s “Celebration of Psalms” service tonight, held for the regional AGO convention. Our organist, Dr. Polly Brecht, ROCKED MY FACE OFF with her performance of this - it was brilliant. But she’s always brilliant, so. I hope we get a recording of the service.

I always forget how fond I am of Poulenc and his style of writing; as one of my best friends once put it (during a rehearsal of Poulenc’s opera Dialogues of the Carmelites), “He careens through tonality like it were Jell-O…”
